Cryotherapy
Destroying abnormal tissue by controlled freezing. In cancer care it is a precise tool for selected small lesions — valuable exactly because it spares what surrounds them.
How freezing treats disease
A probe cooled far below freezing is applied to the lesion; ice crystals form inside the abnormal cells and destroy them, and the treated tissue is then cleared naturally by the body over the following weeks. The freeze can be repeated in the same sitting to deepen the effect, and healing typically leaves a soft, functional surface rather than a tight scar — a real advantage inside the mouth.
Where we use it
- 01Pre-cancerous mouth patchesSelected leukoplakia and similar lesions, particularly multiple or recurring ones
- 02Small benign and low-risk lesionsWhere cutting would take more tissue than the problem justifies
- 03Symptom controlFreezing selected surface tumours to control bleeding or bulk when larger surgery is not appropriate
Its honest place in cancer care
Cryotherapy is a niche instrument, not a rival to surgery: it destroys tissue rather than removing it, which means nothing goes to the pathologist from the treated area itself. That is why a biopsy diagnosis always comes first, and why anything suspicious of invasive cancer is excised, not frozen. Used within those limits — small, superficial, diagnosed lesions — it is quick, gentle, repeatable and well tolerated, usually as a daycare procedure.

Send us the biopsy report. We will tell you where you stand.
A second opinion costs you nothing and often changes the plan. Share your reports on WhatsApp and a surgical oncologist will review them before your first visit.
